Sundays In My City~ CellPhone Edition

Some days i am very thankful to have a cellphone that takes pictures...

One just never knows when the *Kodak* moment will strike.

Life can be a highway...

a funky cloud, looming near a rainbow...

or the calmness of early evening.
Captured, for viewing pleasure later.

Now, if only i actually had people to call on my cellphone...maybe i'd use it for more than pictures! (I am a -have cell for emergencies- type)

Soup-er Easy

Chicken & Spinach Tortellini Soup

2 (8oz) boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 tsp vegetable oil (*i substituted 1 tsp olive oil instead)
1 box of Campbell's Organic free range Chicken broth (or if you have homemade frozen, use it up!)
2 cups, packed and chopped spinach (yeah right, maybe only 1 cup necessary)
1 large coarsely chopped tomato
1 celery stalk sliced (i used two)
1 1/4 cups refrigerated cheese-filled tortellini (i only used 1 cup-hey, it's what i had!)
1 clove of garlic minced
1/4 tsp dried oregano
1/8 tsp black pepper

1. Brown chicken in oil, in heavy bottomed pan.
2. Add broth and vegetables. Heat to a boil.
3. Stir in remaining ingredients.
4. Simmer covered until cooked through--maybe 15 minutes.


See, i told you it was EASY!
And apparently, i like changing recipes... i only need to have a recipe to see what i could put in it? Then, i just throw it all in according to me!

I really love the Cook With Campbell's website! They provide many suggestions or ideas and even have some in a video format. I like that i can type in the ingredients i have on hand and it will give me a list of things i might be able to make.

This recipe took no longer than half an hour, so i encourage you to give a try! Yummy!

The DaddyO Special!

I began my love of Y&R when i was a child. I had a babysitter who watched it. That was the early 80's. What i love about Y&R is that almost all the actors stay the same. For. Years & Years. They also keep the 'bringing people back from the dead' to a minimum and i do not feel like i am watching "Crazy Salem".
I adore Victor Newman. No one is like him!

It isn't the number one watched Daytime show for no reason at all...

Anyone else a 'closet' Y&R fan??

Okay, i am a little upset that i have only found out about this contest now... but, i did enter myself and OMG- i cannot even imagine how awesome this would be to win!!!

I am not thinking at all about...

What happens if i do win??

Who will look after my kids??
Can hubby even take this much time off work?
My inlaws are not in the country...
My mother lives too far away!

It's okay...i never win anything... and my reality-meter (because i am such a pessimist) says that i won't.

Sundays in My City~ Olympic Spirit Edition

At the moment, communities all across Canada are embracing the duty of the Olympic torch~! We are entering the final days of the journey to Vancouver... meaning, the games are almost here! What a fine way to bring out our patriotic spirit! This week, it was our turn to participate...

Here is a picture of the 2010 Vancouver Games torch. Pretty slick and modern these days. Oh, and yes, i do know this lady. She ran one of the first legs of the journey, in Newfoundland. I am so very proud of her- SHE ROCKS! This torch run will be one of the longest in Olympic history and will have 12.000 runners!!

Our bank service charges hard at work! Only kidding- but for real, those 'Black Eyed Peas' have MAJOR royalties heading. their. way. forever!!!~ Well, "I've gotta feeling" they do...
The torch making its way through town. I had tears instantly at the sight! I can only imagine the elation this runner must be experiencing. WOW~
And it is gone. See those guys in black, running along with the torch bearer? They are Canada's fine RCMP, getting a nice workout. :)

It means a lot to have this chance to host the Olympics. What a great way to introduce the idea of 'country pride' in our kids, while they are wee. I am not sure that they'll remember this; however, in 1988 when i saw the torch my first time, i probably understood as much as they do.

One day they'll get the importance. If we're lucky, they'll get to see it again in their life time, with their kids.

Bring it on Vancouver 2010~!

A Mami Inspired Re-do

This is a picture i did not even take with a regular digital camera. I took it with my cell phone (which wins no prizes either). I suppose i could have come back outside with a real camera, but i was lucky enough the first time to even have my cell on hand... dog was tangled, THIS was beautiful! Mami suggested that it may also look nice 'embossed'...

So here they are! I am hoping that you will be able to click on them and see how they turned out?

Both are embossed at opposite ends of the spectrum.

I think it has the potential to be a very nice Christmas card...(hee hee yay! months in advance!)

~While i do not entirely want to tell you about this contest Unknown Mami is hosting, i have to... because i really want to win!! "20 to Life"

~This week a bloggy bud noticed that the coding in my button was a little off. And well, of course it was....uh hum, i made it myself. I get credit for trying though, right? Anyways, she was nice enough to help me fix it and i just really wanted to give her a big shout out for her assistance! I am very proud to say that i have done all the upgrades for my blog by myself (including a lengthy tutorial adding a 3rd column into my html coding- can we say nightmare?) and that somehow, in being a Mom, i have learned to use my computer more fully! Thanks Joe- for holding my hand and walking me through the steps! You were an invaluable teacher and i *think* i still remember how to do it again, if ever the need.

Well, i can't stress enough how happy i am that today is Friday! Ah, the weekend! Have a good one all! I look forward to a new week and getting to know a few new followers!

Yesterday i read a fantastic article in the Calgary Herald concerning the Honey Bee. We can wax poetic about the many ways to be 'greener', but these little guys REALLY need us to be 'greener' for their survival!

Big ASS Dog is Right!

Meet Copper...our Alaskan Malamute. SHE weighs in at a cool 115lbs, with running abilities akin to 50km/h traffic--if something is good enough to run after! Example A: found a deer head. Well, we THINK she found it... ate it right. in. front. of me. Pure viewing pleasure-yuck!

Example B: Yes Copper, the porcupine WILL win! (250 quills later)

But then there are these moments,
