That sounds like a lot of work! It must feel great; sitting in front of a roaring fire, knowing you're enjoying the fruits of your labors. Nice!

I love the open country feel there. Free firewood if you want to go get it. Funny.

Just so that everyone knows- the government sells us a permit to Crown Land that affords us this opportunity. We are allowed to take only fallen, dead wood.

And Alberta's nickname is "Big Sky Country"

Wow!! I always see pics like this on postcards...hard to imagine (living in Florida!) that others really live in or near these types of surroundings! Beautiful captures!

How beautiful. I would want to be there all the time.

Getting to it and getting it out. The 2 hard parts. Still, it is so satisfying to know you are keeping warm with the wood you harvested, chopped and stacked. Great job.

I would totally chop up fallen trees if I had a permit that allowed me to do so to keep my home warm. Lovely photos! Thanks for sharing and keep warm!

It looks so quiet! I think I need to add Canada to my places to visit! You've got Margaret Atwood and scenes like this.
