That sounds like a lot of work! It must feel great; sitting in front of a roaring fire, knowing you're enjoying the fruits of your labors. Nice!
How beautiful and so serene to be out in those woods enjoying nature in all it's glory. Fantastic shots.

I love the open country feel there. Free firewood if you want to go get it. Funny.

I remember doing this as a kid too. Your snaps are wonderful. The view in the first shot is gorgeous.

Just so that everyone knows- the government sells us a permit to Crown Land that affords us this opportunity. We are allowed to take only fallen, dead wood.

And Alberta's nickname is "Big Sky Country"

Wow!! I always see pics like this on postcards...hard to imagine (living in Florida!) that others really live in or near these types of surroundings! Beautiful captures!

Getting to it and getting it out. The 2 hard parts. Still, it is so satisfying to know you are keeping warm with the wood you harvested, chopped and stacked. Great job.

I would totally chop up fallen trees if I had a permit that allowed me to do so to keep my home warm. Lovely photos! Thanks for sharing and keep warm!

So gorgeous! And I don't think I would mind gathering the firewood!
I need a day in the woods to be honest!

It looks so quiet! I think I need to add Canada to my places to visit! You've got Margaret Atwood and scenes like this.
