Milder Options From Old El Paso #LMDConnector *Plus Giveaway*

I am a huge fan of Mexican food and will feast on it at any given opportunity.  On vacation in San Diego last February, I made sure to head to Casa Guadalajara for their famed authentic Mexican cuisine and atmosphere.  It was the best I've had yet!  Living in Calgary, I do not get too many opportunities to dine on true fare and I do not consider Taco Bell a proper replacement.  That means, we do our taco eating at home.

El Problema - In the past, I have made my own taco seasoning because both kids claim the Old El Paso taco seasoning too spicy.  I have tried making it with only half the amounts and they still claim too spicy.  This has been a little frustrating, as I consider tacos to be a healthy and quick dinner option and it is something I have longed for my kids to truly enjoy.  (And my home made taco seasoning may not have been the best either.)  When I received the Old El Paso taco kits for review as an #LMDConnector, I was excited by the NEW Mild seasoning.  Would my kids finally eat this new mild seasoning with no complaints?

On hand I had fresh orange and yellow peppers, red onions, green onions and cherry tomatoes. Digging around in the pantry, I found a can of black beans to add to our ground chicken.  I asked the kids which taco shells they'd prefer for dinner (hard or soft) and we were all set to give this Old El Paso taco seasoning another shot.  One of the reasons I like to have tacos is because I can let the kids fill their own tacos and they seem to somehow think that is WAY better than when I fill them up... they also may or may not eat twice as much food under this theory.  Who am I to argue with 'kid' logic?

How did the taco feasting go?

Everyone ate their whole dinner.  Not one peep about too spicy.  Just happy mouths, happy kids and happy parents!  I even doubted how much I would enjoy the milder version as I do love my spice, but it was really, really good.  (If you're a fan of 'spicy', you'll love the NEW Spicy Fajita kit seasoning!  Wowzers!)

Don't eat meat?  You can still love your tacos vegetarian inspired too!  Alisha from "Learning From My Kids" tells us how:

"I use the Yves veggie ground round (either the Mexican or the regular and then use the Old El Paso taco seasoning). I also make refried beans in case the kids want that instead of the 'meat' and I use Daiya shreds for 'cheese'. "
