Lay's NEW Kettle Cooked Chips & A Giveaway

It's no secret that i LOVE chips!  In fact, i'd take chips over chocolate anyday! (Did i just say that out loud?)  Well, Lay's has done it again folks.  They've gone all Kettle-cooked, with all-natural flavouring in our favourite Canadian flavours!  

I had the opportunity to test-drive all four flavours a few weeks back: Ketchup, Jalapeno Cheddar, Dill Pickle and BBQ.  The love affair first began with Jalapeno Cheddar.  I began with this flavour because i deemed it *my least* favourite, and i'm the type that likes to eat my least-to-favourite thing on my plate (because i roll like that).  But you know, the Jalapeno Cheddar was actually pretty darn good.  Just enough hot, with the right amount of cheddar--and, it tasted real (not all fake powdery).

The next night, DaddyO and i watched a movie.  Perfect opportunity to try out another bag of the Lay's Kettle Cooked.  We went for the Dill Pickle this time, since we had already done the hot thing the day before (sheesh, admittance of two bags of chips in only two days).  WOW and YUM!  They didn't have the same tang and saliva inducer that you might encounter in a *regular* bag of Dill Pickle.  The flavour was a lot more like eating a real dill pickle... and the added crunch of the kettle cookedness made me feel like i was, indeed, munching on pickles.

Night three (cuz i had to make these chippies disappear and not linger around my house for days!)- i pulled out the BBQ flavour.  I really, really, LOVE Ketchup and just had to make it my last tested flavour.  I have to say, i usually find BBQ not really living up to its name.  I always think BBQ chips could be just a bit more bam!  The new Lay's Kettle Cooked BBQ flavour had that Boom Boom WOW i was looking for.  Super delicious!

And last, but certainly not the least-- the unique to Canada- Ketchup flavoured chips. ( Read THIS post, to share in my love for Ketchup Chips! )  For me, the Lay's Kettle Cooked Ketchup chip was AWESOME.  DaddyO did agree, that these were the ultimate Ketchup chip.  Kinda like, really great french fries with the skins on--salty and ketchupy!  I won't lie- i've bought these a few times since testing... *whistling*

The Sweet Life- Knowing is Half The Battle

There is a lady i have known since highschool.  We were acquaintances mostly, until our 'circles' meshed when i was in university.  This friend of mine has been writing a blog;  A journal of sorts.  Sure, we all write blog entries- about our life, about our kids, about our 'bad days'.  This lady at 'The Sweet Life', is writing about her daily ins & outs raising a T1D child (he has Diabetes).

Her blog has completely opened my eyes!  I am learning so much every day.  I am thankful for this facet;  the blog, as a vessel for sharing and learning.  If you know someone raising a child with T1D, please encourage them to pop over to her blog.  If you do not know someone raising a child with T1D, then maybe you'd like to check it out too?  Her writing is honest, sincere, and her darling son is just that- darling.

I cannot imagine what being a mother to a child with any illness/disease is like. The strength it must take daily is something i cannot comprehend.    Knowing these Moms makes me stronger.

Last week, i had a little rant about how chocolate milk has been switcheroo'ed for something called 'beverage'. While it isn't a staple in our home, just the fact that a milk company would change their ingredients without really informing the public, has me up in arms about the state of 'eating right'.  So instead of buying the odd carton of chocolate milk, i have decided it is better to do (as a few readers suggested) the Low-Sugar Nestle Quik syrup; at least its ingredients are normal and actually, not scary! 

I also promised i would tell you about FRESH Orange Juice. Seems what might be nutritious for us, should actually be fully researched to see how the heck it is made? Would you be grossed out to know that fresh Oj, (like the stuff in gable-topped containers a la Tropicana) is actually ONE YEAR OLD??

Yep, how fresh is that??  
Ugh. Um...frozen OJ from now on for us.  Read this LINK!

Tell Me Tuesday This Week:
Hubby and i *might* have the chance to sneak away for a mini-vacation.  We have never been on a vacation without our kids.  Needless to say we are dying for one and are stoked at the prospect of it.  Thing is, we don't want to spend a lot of money... but we NEED to have sunshine and warmth.  Ahhh.  You've seen our temps here right??-- We must get away!  (Timing- End of April, 5-7 days)
