Sweet Milk Almond & Apple Pie #HolidayBaking

Part of being organized during the holiday season is having the right tools on hand.  Ideally, we already have the pies made and frozen in the freezer... but sometimes, we just don't.  Keeping frozen pie shells on hand (tart shells too!), a can of pie filling or fresh fruit lends to a quick, easy and tasty dessert.

My favourite frozen pie pastry is Tenderflake.  It always tastes good.  I never have issues with it at all-- and it always receives compliments to which I must fess up about its store-boughtness. ~sigh~

This recipe is easy peasy and oh so tasty.  I know the name implies that it should turn out ridiculously sweet, but surprisingly it does not.

Sweet Milk Almond & Apple Pie

1 can of Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk
5 or 6 Medium Apples Sliced and Chopped
1/8 cup of salted butter
1/4 cup natural almonds
Cinnamon to taste

Ready made pie or tart crusts.

In a saucepan, melt butter and saute with chopped apples and cinnamon.  Add in almonds, condensed milk and continue to simmer. Fill thawed pie crust with apple mixture, then place a second thawed pie crust over top.  Pinch the edges, make a few slits and voila!

Bake at 350F for 35-45 minutes.

Let cool 15 minutes before serving.

ENJOY!
